WHO IS ELLEN G. WHITE?

“In brief, she was a woman of remarkable spiritual gifts who lived most of her life during the nineteenth century (1827-1915), yet through her writings she is still making a revolutionary impact on millions of people around the world.

During her lifetime she wrote more than 5,000 periodical articles and 40 books; but today, including compilations from her 50,000 pages of manuscript, more than 100 titles are available in English. She is the most translated woman writer in the entire history of literature, and the most translated American author of either gender. Her writings cover a broad range of subjects, including religion, education, social relationships, evangelism, prophecy, publishing, nutrition, and management. Her life-changing masterpiece on successful Christian living, Steps to Christ, has been published in more than 140 languages.

Seventh-day Adventists believe that Mrs. White was more than a gifted writer; they believe she was appointed by God as a special messenger to draw the world’s attention to the Holy Scriptures and help prepare people for Christ’s second advent. From the time she was 17 years old until she died 70 years later, God gave her approximately 2,000 visions and dreams. The visions varied in length from less than a minute to nearly four hours.

The knowledge and counsel received through these revelations she wrote out to be shared with others. Thus her special writings are accepted by Seventh-day Adventists as inspired, and their exceptional quality is recognized even by casual readers. As stated in Seventh-day Adventists Believe…“The writings of Ellen White are not a substitute for Scripture. They cannot be placed on the same level. “Church members, ask God to give you a burden to open the Scriptures to others and to do missionary work for those who need help. THE PURPOSE OF HER WRITINGS

The written testimonies are not to give new light, but to impress vividly upon the heart the truths of inspiration already revealed. Man’s duty to God and to his fellow man has been distinctly specified in God’s word, yet but few of you are obedient to the light given. Additional truth is not brought out; but God has through the Testimonies simplified the great truths already given and in His own chosen way brought them before the people to awaken and impress the mind with them, that all may be left without excuse. The Testimonies are not to belittle the word of God, but to exalt it and attract minds to it, that the beautiful simplicity of truth may impress all.” {5T 665}

The First Health Reform Vision

R. & H., Oct. 8, 1867

It was at the house of Brother A. Hilliard, at Otsego, Michigan, June 6, 1863, That the great subject of health Reform was opened before me in vision.  {CD 481.5}

In the light given me so long ago (1863), I was shown that intemperance would prevail in the world to an alarming extent, and that every one of the people of God must take an elevated stand in regard to reformation in habits and practices. . . . The Lord presented a general plan before me. {CD 481.6}

THE IMPACT OF PORK ON BRAIN

The eating of pork has produced scrofula, leprosy, and cancerous humors. Pork eating is still causing the most intense suffering to the human race.

It is not the physical health alone that is injured by pork eating. The mind is affected and the finer sensibilities are blunted by the use of this gross article of food.--HL (Part 1) 58, 1865. (CD 393.)  {2MCP 391.2}

THE TRUTH BEHIND PORK EATING

“Many of the animals labeled as “unclean” are primarily scavengers. They do not have the kind of multiple digestive system that the cud-chewers do, so the poisons that they consume go directly into their flesh. Only the unclean animals are regular hosts to such parasites as the trichina worm. Isn’t it amazing that almost every cookbook notes that you should always be extra careful to fully cook pork to a well-done state, but they never mention that their unspoken reason is-so that you will be sure to kill the trichina worms in their little cysts! It is an accepted fact that much of the pork in America, even with all our “modern” health precautions, probably contains trichina. Trichinosis and possible poisoning is bad enough, but the unclean animals are host also to much more serious problems for humans.” The Manna Manual, by Nicholas Patula

EGW PROPHECIES ON CANCER

“…if they could see the animals when living and know the quality of the meat they eat, they would turn from it with loathing. People are continually eating flesh that is filled with tuberculous and cancerous germs. Tuberculosis, cancer, and other fatal diseases are thus communicated.” Ministry of Healing by Ellen G. White, 313

Many times when meat is eaten, it decays in the stomach, and creates disease. Cancers, tumors, and pulmonary diseases are largely caused by meat eating. {CD 383.4}

“MEAT – Numerous scientific studies, both experimental and statistical, have revealed that meat consumption is a significant risk factor in most types of cancer (brain, lung, stomach, kidney, urinary bladder, uterus, ovarian, and prostate, among others)” – Dr. George D. EGW ON MEDIA

This is an age when corruption is teeming everywhere. The lust of the eye and corrupt passions are aroused by beholding and by reading. The heart is corrupted through the imagination. The mind takes pleasure in contemplating scenes which awaken the lower and baser passions. These vile images, seen through defiled imagination, corrupt the morals and prepare the deluded, infatuated beings to give loose rein to lustful passions.  {LYL 60.5}

THE STATE OF THE LAST GENERATION

“A TERRIBLE PICTURE of the condition of the world has been presented before me. Immorality abounds everywhere. Licentiousness is the special sin of this age. {AH 328.1}

Many of the young are eager for books. They read everything they can obtain. Exciting love stories and impure pictures have a corrupting influence. Novels are eagerly perused by many, and, as the result, their imagination becomes defiled. Photographs of females in a state of nudity are frequently circulated for sale.  {LYL 60.4}

I write with a distressed heart that the women in this age, both married and unmarried, too frequently do not maintain the reserve that is necessary. They act like coquettes [HARLOTS]. They encourage the attentions of single and married men, and those who are weak in moral power will be ensnared. {AH 331.3}

WHERE IS OUR FUTURE?

1. By age 14, 30,000 girls become pregnant.

2. By age 15, 1 in 5 girls admits having sex.

3. By age 16, 1 in 3 girls admits having sex.

4. By age 17, almost 60% of boys and girls have had intimate relations.

5. By age 18, 40% of the teen-age girls, who attend conservative, evangelical churches admit to having lost their virginity (Our personal experience has been that it is no longer uncommon for girls, who graduated from a Christian School, to conceive out of wedlock).

6. By age 20, 4 out of 5 unmarried males, and 3 out of 5 unmarried females admit to having premarital sex.

7. By adulthood, 1 out of 4 will seek treatment for a sexually transmitted disease.” The Word of Life Annual for 1989 Quoted in Courtship vs. Dating by Baptist Top 1000.

Ignorance, pleasure loving, and sinful habits, corrupting soul, body, and spirit, make the world full of moral leprosy; a deadly moral malaria is destroying thousands and tens of thousands. What shall be done to save our youth? We can do little, but God lives and reigns, and He can do much.”  {AH 329}

THE COMING CRISIS IN THE PROPHECIES OF EGW

The substitution of the laws of men for the law of God, the exaltation, by merely human authority, of Sunday in place of the Bible Sabbath, is the last act in the drama. When this substitution BECOMES UNIVERSAL GOD WILL REVEAL HIMSELF. He will arise in His majesty to shake terribly the earth.–7T 141 (1902).

As America, the land of religious liberty, shall unite with the papacy in forcing the conscience and compelling men to honor the false sabbath, the people of every country on the globe will be led to follow her example.–6T 18 (1900).  {LDE 135.1}

EVENTS LEADING TO THE FINAL CRISIS

The Roman Church now presents a fair front to the world, covering with apologies her record of horrible cruelties. She has clothed herself in Christ-like garments; but she is unchanged. Every principle of the papacy that existed in past ages exists today. The doctrines devised in the darkest ages are still held. Let none deceive themselves. The papacy that Protestants are now so ready to honor is the same that ruled the world in the days of the Reformation, when men of God stood up, at the peril of their lives, to expose her iniquity. She possesses the same pride and arrogant assumption that lorded it over kings and princes, and claimed the prerogatives of God. Her spirit is no less cruel and despotic now than when she crushed out human liberty and slew the saints of the Most High.  {GC 571.1}

The Roman Catholic Church will officially request forgiveness for past errors. Vatican theologians are working on a document that acknowledges the church’s sins for past abuses and oversights. Wrongdoing committed during the Inquisition and the church’s treatment of Jews is expected to be included, Reuters said. During the Inquisition, many Jews were forcibly converted and so-called heretics were tortured to repentance. The document is part of Pope John Paul II’s effort to have the world’s 1 billion Catholics repent for the church’s past sins as part of its millennial celebration. An official day called Request for Forgiveness will be held March 8, 2000.

PAPACY WILL INFILTRATE U.S.A CONSTITUTION

“By the decree of enforcing the institution of the Papacy in violation of the law of God, our nation[USA] will disconnect herself fully from righteousness. When Protestantism shall stretch her hand across the gulf to grasp the hand of the Roman power, when she shall reach over the abyss to clasp hands with Spiritualism, when, under the influence of this threefold union, OUR COUNTRY SHALL REPUDIATE EVERY PRINCIPLE OF ITS CONSTITUTION as a Protestant and Republican government, and shall make provision for the propagation of papal falsehoods and delusions, then we may know that the time has come for the marvelous working of Satan, and that the end is near.” —Testimonies, vol. 5, p. 451

THE CURRENT STATUS OF U.S.

PROTESTANTS WILL ACKNOWLEDGE PAPAL SUPREMACY

Pope John Paul II Calls for

National Sunday Laws

On May 31, 1998, Pope John Paul II issued an Apostolic Letter. You will here find a reprint of the official English translation of that document. (below)

In this letter, John Paul II makes three calls:

1 – He calls for Roman Catholics to keep Sunday holy and come to mass.

2 – He calls for secular governments, throughout the world, to enact Sunday Laws forbidding all work on Sunday. These laws are to be binding on all citizens, since everyone—Catholics and non-Catholics—should rest on that day.

3 – He calls for secular governments to enforce these laws. It would be assumed that this would include the imposition of penalties, for how else could the laws be enforced?

PROTESTANTS BEHIND SUNDAY LAW

Those who are making an effort to change the Constitution and secure a law enforcing Sunday observance little realize what will be the result. A CRISIS IS JUST UPON US.–5T 711, 753 (1889).

BEWARE OF REJECTING THE  “TESTIMONIES”

I have been shown that unbelief in the testimonies of warning, encouragement, and reproof is shutting away the light from God’s people. Unbelief is closing their eyes so that they are ignorant of their true condition. They think the testimony of the Spirit of God in reproof is uncalled for or that it does not mean them. Such are in the greatest need of the grace of God and spiritual discernment, that they may discover their deficiency in spiritual knowledge. {CCh 94.6}

It is Satan’s plan to weaken the faith of God’s people in the Testimonies. Satan knows how to make his attacks. He works upon minds to excite jealousy and dissatisfaction toward those at the head of the work. {CCh 93.5}

The gifts are next questioned; then, of course, they have but little weight, and instruction given through vision is disregarded. Next follows skepticism in regard to the vital points of our faith, the pillars of our position, then doubt as to the Holy Scriptures, and then the downward march to perdition. When the Testimonies, which were once believed, are doubted and given up, Satan knows the deceived ones will not stop at this; and he redoubles his efforts till he launches them into open rebellion, which becomes incurable and ends in destruction. By giving place to doubts and unbelief in regard to the work of God, and by cherishing feelings of distrust and cruel jealousies, they are preparing themselves for complete deception. They rise up with bitter feelings against the ones who dare to speak of their errors and reprove their sins. {CCh 94.1}
